The Leopard. 2005-10-20 7:57 p.m.

A leopard's spots are on his skin... there is no changing them... and no cutting them out.

A man is what he is... he wants what he wants... and he has that right.

The greatest love of all is to understand that... and respect it.

I agree with your mother...

Except... the worst case senerio isn't that you part ways in a year with the fuzzy feeling of being loved if even for a short time.

Likelihood is that you will show him what he's never had... you will show him what love is and that you are not a lost dream... but in the end he still won't want what you do... because he has it... and what he has is enough for him... (it sounds like that's what he's been trying to tell you all along *of course I only suspect... my expertise lies in cheating bastards and junkies, afterall*)...

The fear of something new is always how it will change what's comfortable... and THE worst case senerio is that you part ways... You on your way to life, love and the family you know you desparately want...

He's left like a rope unravelled standing on a square he's never seen... with a hole in his heart and a hurt he thought would never come close to comparing to the hurt he has known before.

Ask him if he's willing to run that risk for anyone other than his son... he should have a say... and ask yourself if you're willing to run that risk for like, but not love.

I understand his reservation... and I understand your hope... we're not so unlike sometimes, you and I.

I'm just scared for the three of you...

Most of all for you.
